Man Utd 1–2 Man City: Iheanacho blasts City past United

Pep Guardiola led Manchester City to a sweet 2-1 victory over Jose Mourinho led Manchester United in their first major meeting in the premier league and it was Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho that was the hero as he netted the winning goal.
Manchester United made two changes to his first XI as Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard came in for Juan Mata and Antonio Martial while Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gave Kelechi Iheanacho his first start in the absence of suspended Sergio Aguero.
First Half
The home side started brightly as Rooney and Mkhitaryan combined to set up the world’s most expensive footballer Paul Pogba but he curled his effort wide.
However, it was the Citizens raced into an early lead when Kevin de Bruyne raced onto a flick by Kelechi Iheanacho and calmly slotted past David de Gea in goal for United.
City continued to dominate possession and grabbed the second as tormentor-in-chief De but Bruyne hit a left foot shot which beats everyone but rebounded off the post and Iheanacho was there to finish with a simple tape-in to become the youngest City goalscorer in the Manchester derby.
At the stage the home fans were dazed but were given something to shout about as Zlatan Ibrahimovic capitalized on slip by new City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to volley in for 2-1.
United had the opportunity of leveling up before the end of the first half after another mistake at the City defense when John Stones clattered into his keeper and the ball fell to Ibrahimovic but he failed to score.
The Second Half
Manchester United had a better second half as they came out in search of the equalizer. JoseMourinho brought on Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford for Jesse Lingard and Mkhitaryan.


Marcus Rashford made an immediate impact as he gave City right back Bacary Sagna a nightmare with some blind runs and had the ball at the back of the net to send the fans into wide frenzy as they thought their side had equalized but the referee Mark Clattenburg ruled it out for offside as Ibrahimovic interfered while standing in front of the goalkeper.
Manchester United toiled from that point on to get back into the game as City kept possession very well and denied the Red Devils the opportunity of creating clear cut chances.
City nearly scored a clincher in the final moments of the match as Kevin de Bruyne latched onto a sweet pass from substitute Leroy Sane but his shot came off the post.
Manchester United poured everything forward but City held on for the vital win.
