England boss Sam Allardyce wants to build bridges with Arsene Wenger for the sake of his players

Big Sam has had a volatile relationship with the Arsenal boss over the years but he said: “We’ve got to try to help each other if we possibly can. It won’t always be the case.
“The demands on Premier League managers and demand on me as England manager is bound to cause some conflict down the line because the pressures are far greater than ever before.
“I think we suffered more sackings than ever before. I think 56 managers left the clubs out of 92. One hundred coaches left the job in one season.
“So they are bound to want to protect their players and that is what I have to try to overcome with a little bit of give and take, hopefully.”
Allardyce also used his first day as the Three Lions boss to call for English football to introduce a winter break.
