BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal unveil new striker Perez
Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of striker Lucas Perez from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna.
Arsenal in an official statement on its website wrote: “We’re delighted to welcome Lucas to the club and please stay close to Arsenal.com for confirmation of his squad number.
“The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”
The 27-year-old enjoyed a prolific season in La Liga in 2015/16. He scored 19 goals in all competitions, including 17 in the league.

This included a spell when he scored seven goals in seven successive games, matching the record of former Brazilian striker Bebeto. He also scored in the opening game of this La Liga campaign, against Eibar.
Perez began his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid C and then Rayo Vallecano. Spells with Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine and PAOK in Greece followed, before he returned to his home region of Galicia with Deportivo La Coruna in 2014.
After making over 50 appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League, Perez went on loan to Dinamo Kiev. The forward’s next destination was Greek side PAOK, where he picked up a runners-up medal after losing to Panathinaikos in the Greek Football Cup final in 2014.
After two years in Greece, Lucas then returned to Deportivo – initially on loan – and after an encouraging debut season, he joined permanently. The striker enjoyed one of his most prolific campaigns in 2015/16, scoring 17 times in 35 games and equalling a club record held for goals in successive games.
Known for his pace and power, Perez will be hoping to make a big impact in his first season in north London.
