Chelsea and Conte to make a decision on Moses
Pre-season is almost over; the start of the 2016/17 season is upon us and new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, and the Chelsea technical team must come to a decision on the players that will make up the squad for the new season.
Speaking to the club’s official site after beating AC Milan on Wednesday, Conte said, “I think this match told me a lot – about the players who keep and who can go on loan or we can sell. Today [Wednesday], it was important because I have a more clear idea than before.
“Now we go back to London and it’s important for me, for the club, to talk and take the decision about all the players.”
“I must admit, Moses has impressed not just today, but since he returned for the first pre-season game after his loan with West Ham last season,” said Daily Mail’s Daniel Sanford.
He then asked, “Is this the year he finally gets a run in the Chelsea side, stranger things have happened?
Conte continued, “In this pre-season, we work with 30 players, four goalkeepers and 26 players. A lot of players,” he added.
“Now remains one game against Werder Bremen and then we must take the decision.”
One of the positions on which Conte and Chelsea has to make a big decision is on the wingers to keep for the campaign.
With a surfeit of flankers like Victor Moses, Willian, Juan Cuadrado, Pedro, and Kennedy, there is every possibility that at least one of the above would have to be sold or be sent out on loan.
Conte continued: “We hope to take the best decision for the club and the players also. The ideas are very clear, but it’s important for me to speak about this topic with the club.” Senegalese defender, Papy Djilobodji has been sold to Sunderland for £8million but he would not be the last.
Moses has been one of the shining lights during the Austria tour and then the ICC matches in the US.
Over the last three seasons, he has been sent out on loan to Liverpool, Stoke City and last season, he was at West Ham but this could finally be year and season that Moses finally finds his Promised Land.
