Yaya Toure must find a new club
Pep Guardiola sure knows how to send a message to a squad that no player is indispensable. After dropping Joe Hart for the first game of the season, he has cranked up the pressure a bit by dropping Yaya Toure from the squad of 21 players that will face Steaua Bucharest in a UEFA Champions League qualifier.
The two have history – Toure left Barcelona in 2010 because Guardiola preferred Sergio Busquets in defensive midfield and he might now have to find another home for the 2016/17 season.
Toure has had a tumultuous relationship with the Manchester City hierarchy even though he earns over £250,000 a week at the Etihad.
The Cote d’Ivoire captain was the main lynch-pin for the Citizens as they won two EPL titles in three years but now he will be dispensed again by Guardiola.
Yes, there have been question marks on Toure’s influence waning but the same thing can be said about Alexsandar Kolarov’s position but the defender started in central defence against Sunderland at the weekend.
