Ibrahimovic: I chose Mourinho over Wenger and Pep
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed why he chose to join the Red Devils after turning down the chance to join rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho was the determining factor as he couldn’t turn down the chance to work with the Portuguese again after their time at Inter.
The 34-year old left Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in the summer and jumped at the opportunity of plying his trade at Old Trafford, reuniting with Mourinho after the pair had worked together at Inter Milan.
He said: “I was close two times to moving to the Premier League – once with Arsenal and then Manchester City.
“But it never happened and I don’t need to play in the Premier League.”
Mourinho’s appointment at United meant he wasn’t about to let the chance of playing in England slip again.
“He is the mastermind, the masterbrain,” he said. “He knows what he needs to do to win.
“I learned a lot from him at Inter. Who wouldn’t want to have Mourinho as manager?”
The Swede has started life at Old Trafford very well, scoring three goals in his first three Premier League games, helping United to a perfect start to the season.
