Kante: Mourinho begged me to join Man United

France international N’Golo Kante has revealed Jose Mourinho tried to lure him to Manchester United but he had already made up his mind to join Chelsea.
The 25-year-old left premier league champions Leicester City to join the Blues this summer following an outstanding 2015/16 season where he was voted the best holding midfielder by a mile.
Mourinho wanted him to play alongside world’s most expensive footballer Paul Pogba but his attempt to sign the France star was unsuccessful.
“It was amazing to have Mourinho call me, even though I’d been warned before how he would appeal to me,” Kante said.
“I listened to his arguments about why I should move to United.
“But at that time I was hesitant between staying at Leicester or leaving for Chelsea.
“My discussions with them were already well underway. But when I spoke, I had a good feeling with Conte.”
Kante has played every minute for Chelsea this season as they race to a 100% start to the season and he was in action yesterday as France defeated Italy 3-1 in an international friendly.
